Fall is officially here and greeted us Ottawans with several days of dreary, rainy weather which was the perfect end to such a lackluster election result.
Your Bitches are still on a podcast hiatus as we recharge and recalibrate post-election, particularly as we adjust to this new platform.
If this is your first Bitchy-ish Newsletter, welcome! It’s a weekly-ish dispatch of things worth sharing, links to interviews or articles we’ve written, and a good way to stay up-to-date with our general goings-on.
But, first some good news! R. Kelly has finally been found guilty. Fuck that guy and all his supporters.

The United States Census Bureau conducted a survey about the pandemic over the summer and it was the first time a national government survey included questions about sexual orientation and gender identity (yes, you read that correctly). Unsurprisingly, the survey showed the deep disparities 2SLGBTQ+ folks experienced prior to the pandemic and how disproportionate effects remain 18 months in.
For those who don’t read a lot of US news, there is currently a Haitian migrant crisis at the US-Mexico border. The photos are…a lot. There is also a good episode of The Daily on the political environment that has contributed to it (but we trust your ability to find The Daily).
It’s been a year since Joyce Echaquan died at a hospital in Joliette, QC and Indigenous people in Quebec still experience barriers and racism in accessing healthcare services (which should come as no surprise to anyone reading this). But Shachi Kurl was the one off-side when she asked Yves-Francois Blanchet about Bill-21 being discriminatory. GTFOH.
Friend of the Pod, Heidi Moore had this great Twitter thread about cishet men and dating:
In the Media
